An executive says that the National Soccer Association (PSSI) is planning to investigate the financial activities of the organization during Nurdin Halid’s term of office, saying that that there is a suspicion of money laundering during the ousted chairman’s tenure.
Asril Umri, head of the PSSI’s internal audit committee, said late on Wednesday that his division would be assisted by five auditors from the Development and Finance Audit Agency (BPKP) in carrying out the assessment.
“One of the reasons why we have decided to conduct this investigation is a report that shows around Rp 20 billion [US$2.18 million] being transferred to PSSI’s bank account. Although the transaction was recorded, the money in question has never been found,” he said as quoted by tribunnews.com.
