India: Government-appointed task force to take action against 2.25 lakh shell companies

Continuing its drive against shell companies, the government-appointed task force has identified nearly 2.25 lakh shell firms which will be removed from the register of companies in the current financial year.

In the last financial year (FY2017-18), the registrar of companies removed the names of 2.26 lakh companies from its register and disqualified 3.09 lakh directors.
